SMS Opt-in Flow
Last updated: June 20, 2026 · This page describes exactly how end users consent to receive SMS from Shelayma Music Lessons (for carrier and regulator review).
Summary
Shelayma Music Lessons collects SMS consent through three explicit opt-in channels, each requiring affirmative action by the end user. Consent is never assumed or pre-checked. Each opt-in path is described below in full.
Opt-in path 1 — Online enrollment form
- A parent or guardian visits shelaymamusic.com.
- They navigate to the "Sign up for lessons" form (linked from the homepage).
- They fill in the student's name, the parent's contact name, email, mobile phone number, lesson location, lesson type, and package size.
- Above the Submit button is an unchecked-by-default consent checkbox with the following label (verbatim):
"I agree to receive transactional SMS messages from Shelayma Music Lessons about my lessons and billing. Msg & data rates may apply. Msg frequency varies (typically 2–5/month). Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel. See our
SMS Terms and
Privacy Policy."
- The Submit button is disabled until the checkbox is actively checked.
- When submitted, the consent timestamp, checkbox state, IP address, and full form contents are stored in our database for audit.
- The first SMS sent is a confirmation: "Welcome to Shelayma Music Lessons! You'll receive lesson reminders and billing notifications. Msg & data rates may apply. Msg frequency varies (2-5/month). Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel."
Opt-in path 2 — Verbal consent during enrollment conversation
- A prospective parent contacts Shlomo Ashvil by phone, text, or in person to enroll a student.
- Shlomo Ashvil reads aloud the following script (verbatim) before collecting their mobile number:
"To send you lesson reminders and billing notifications by text message, I'll need your mobile number. By providing your number you agree to receive transactional SMS from Shelayma Music Lessons. Message and data rates may apply, message frequency varies (typically 2 to 5 per month), reply HELP for help, reply STOP to cancel at any time. Do I have your consent?"
- Only if the parent verbally confirms do we add the number to our system and send the welcome message above.
- Shlomo Ashvil logs the date, time, and verbal-consent confirmation in our database for audit.
Opt-in path 3 — Reply-YES confirmation
- In the occasional case where a parent's number was provided to us by another party (e.g., referral from an existing student), we send a single introductory SMS:
"Hi from Shelayma Music Lessons. To receive lesson reminders and billing notifications, reply YES. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out. See
terms +
privacy."
- No further messages are sent unless the parent replies YES or START.
- On affirmative reply, the welcome confirmation message is sent and the number is added to our active list.
Opt-out
Across all three paths, replying STOP at any time triggers immediate removal from our SMS list. A single confirmation message is sent: "You have been unsubscribed from Shelayma Music Lessons SMS. You will receive no further messages. Reply HELP for help or START to resubscribe."
Audit
Consent records (opt-in path, timestamp, full message of consent, IP address where applicable) are stored in our database for the duration of the SMS relationship and for a minimum of 4 years after opt-out. Available on request to carrier vetters and regulators.
